China Glaze Cirque Du Soleil - Its a trap-eze over Barry M Blueberry Gelly

So it's a bit of a late post. I was meant to do this on friday but I was too excited for my show, then I was going to do it yesterday but I was too busy missing the show!

Me and my cousin went to go and see Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil, and I have been saving Its a trap-eze just for this show, being part of the cirque collection.
It was beyond amazing by the way, huge Michael Jackson fans, and this was just a great way to listen to his music. Not usually a fan of remixes but I love what they did to the music.

I will do separate reviews for each polish at a later date, I was just going to wear Its a trap-eze but I had blueberry on and thought I would try them together and it looks really nice.

Its a trap-eze is a white base with lots of bright coloured glitter, the white isn't opaque so it gives a nice coating over another colour.

A England The Legends: Saint George Swatch and Review

A special one today! Saint George, part of The Legends collection from A England. Now usually these are £9 available from the website, but I was naughty and got this for £4.89 off eBay. I am all about getting a bargain after all!

Its at times like this I wish I could figure out how best to use my camera! This polish is so gorgeous, really tried to capture the holographic effect.

I think you can see it best in that second picture. It is very thick, but that isn't a problem for me, it goes on so easily and what I have on is one coat! I haven't used a top coat either so it has a lovely shine to it that lasts. That is all it takes. I had it on for 4 days and it hadn't chipped which is good for me. Its a dark emerald green with a lighter slightly gold shimmer.

This is the polish without direct light, and as you can see its still very pretty, unlike the other holos I have it doesn't turn into a metallic polish.

Coming up in the next 2 weeks, lots of Barry M. When I started this I bought too many new and slightly expensive polishes, so I am on a spending ban and going to work through my 60+ Barry M nail polishes.

New York Color Expert Last Ink Stain and Bowery Black - Swatch and Review

As promised from the first NYC nail polish I bought, I went and bought 2 more! At a brilliant cost of two for £2.99! Available at Superdrug and some stores.

The first one being reviewed is Ink Stain this is a gorgeous deep midnight blue with a very lovely shimmer.

It is very glossy! The images don't even have a top coat on. It is also very thick, I prefer thick polishes. I only used 1 coat here, honestly. My camera didn't pick up the shimmer, its very subtle but it is there. Sadly I cant comment on if it lasts 10 days because I was doing a few colours in one day. It wouldn't surprise me though, the formula is very nice.

Why is it that there is always one nail that always lets you down! This is my right hand and that awful nail was very week. All getting repaired now and staying away from acrylics.

This post looked a little short so I will add the second NYC to it.
The second one is Bowery Black a grey shimmer.

I don't know what happened, but I appear to have not taken many good pictures of this polish, and its very nice. This one is thinner than the other, I used 2 coats here. It is quick drying. Again I struggled to capture the shimmer, its very subtle.

I continue to be pleased with these polishes, next time I think I will pick up some brighter pastel colours.

GOSH Holographic Heroes Swatch and Review

When I first heard about holo nail polish, I started looking around for one that was more affordable than the china glaze range. I came across GOSH holographic heroes, but it seemed to be selling at double the price on ebay. Few weeks later I went to the superdrug in Manchester Arndale, didn't realise they had a GOSH stand, and there it was! At £4.99 its right at the top of my 'budget' limit, but I had to get it. I love it.

Its been a very strange day of weather here, bright sunshine but snowing at the same time, I was lucky when I had the time to do this, we had a small patch of sun so I went outside right away. The holo isn't as strong as china glaze, but it is still very impressive. The polish is quite thin, would require 2 - 3 coats for full coverage, I used two.

This is the best picture I took where you can really see the effect. You can see the rainbow in it clearer.

These are how it looks in normal light, the first picture is inside, the second outside. It looks a lot more glittery than a metallic, its very pretty without the holo as well, I wish it came in more colours!

Do you like the holographic effect?

Revlon - 'Girly' Nail Polish Swatch and Review

Yesterday Boots were having an instore promotion 'give it a go' about trying something new, so I thought I would pop down, plus it was 3 for 2 on cosmetics! I ended up giving the red lipstick a go and buying it! I never wear lipstick let alone red.

The other favourite thing I bought yesterday was this gorgeous nail polish. Ever since seeing 'Its a trap-eze' by China Glaze I have been in love with glitter nail polishes that have a coloured base and I just don't have enough of them.

The base is a very pale pink with medium and small hexagon glitter in fuscia, purple and a pale pink. I had to dab it on and push the glitter around to cover my nails. I used 2 coats here, probably would get away with using a third.

A comparison of the colours in sunlight and in shade. I really love this, even though its not opaque, its different to a normal glitter. Did take a while to dry because I put it on quite thick. I love the shape of the bottle as well.

My camera can't do macro shots,  so this is as close to it as I could get to try show you all the glitter. They retail at £6.49, so slightly higher than my limit of £5 but I just had to get it. You can purchase at boots or superdrug instore and online.

Invogue Hi Res Glitter Guilty Pleasure Swatch and Review

Fourth and final Invogue review tonight.

Unfortunately it is my least favourite. For me it was just too thin, I used 3 coats and it still wasn't opaque. It would be lovely over another colour to add a two toned shimmer, but on its own it just didn't work for me. Also I couldn't really pick up the colours on either of my cameras.

Guilty Pleasure is a 'hi res glitter' I would say its more of a shimmer, like the cocktail colours by Rimmel. This one, in the bottle has a lovely blue and purple two tone. It is easy to remove, not like a normal glitter. Available at superdrug.com and in store for £2.99 a great price! Pink and orange also available.

It is much brighter than my camera has captured. You can clearly see the two tone in the bottle. It was easy to apply but very thin. I will experiment with layering it over other colours I think.

Invogue Feathers Effect On The Money - Swatch and Review

Third swatch of the day!
Feather effect. I first saw this on nails inc but they are too expensive for my price range, and I was intrigued, so I am happy to get one that is much more affordable. The feather effect polishes are £3.49 each available from superdrug.com and in store, also available in a peach, blue and white and a mix of blue/orange/yellow.

To describe 'On The Money' it is a clear base with bright blue and yellow strips of glitter. Good look on its own or layering over other colours.

I only used 2 coats, I should have used more. To apply you have to dab and push the strips around to get cover. I was losing light by this point so I rushed a bit. I love this look, its very different to just having a normal glittery polish, I will definitely get at least one more colour.

It is very rough, I found after application, so a top coat is needed. In the future I will experiment with layering it over other colours

Another place to purchase invogue is on http://www.ohbeauty.co.uk/invogue-nail-polish they charge £4.49 each BUT it is free delivery! So it works out cheaper. Also available is the entire feather collection for just £13.47, for all 4 colours: here

Invogue Concrete Effect Spellbound - Swatch and Review

Second Invogue polish is a concrete effect. Invogue is an affordable range of nail polish from Eye Candy. Fairly new to textured nail polish, my only experience being the Barry M ones. Wasn't sure if I would like the feel but its not too coarse. Easy to remove as well, not as difficult as a glitter.

Spellbound is a bright red, poppy red, really stands out. Apologies for my little nail! I tried to chop it off most pictures its too short!

As you can see it has a textured effect, almost like sand, but its not as rough. One coat covered my nail, so that is all I used for these pictures. I would use 2 if I was going out and I wanted it to last.

I kept taking pictures because I wanted to make sure I picked up the effect. I really like it. The concrete polishes are £3.49 each available from superdrug.com and in store soon, also available in a black I think I will buy it to have a dark textured nail polish in my collection.

Invogue Suede Effect Emerald Dust Review and Swatch

After a post by another nail blog, I was made aware of a new affordable nail polish from the brand Eye Candy. These are available from Superdrug.com and in stores. I ordered 4 to try out. This is my personal favourite, the colour the effect its just gorgeous. The suede effect is £3.49, a bargain! and also available in silver, purple and pink - think I will be getting all of them!

I have never used "suede effect" before, its basically a shimmery polish that dries matt instead of glossy. I like it. I took quite a few photos because I really like it.

The top 2 photos, you can see how green it is, in the 2 photos below you can see the comparison in light and shade, the gold shimmer really comes out in the sunlight. It applied really smoothly, the polish is quite thick and one coat is enough to cover the nail, I used 2 just out of habit and to smooth it out. I didn't use a top coat, as that would take away the matt effect, looking back I probably should have just to see what it looked like!

I am really in love with this colour, its a lovely green and the gold is a nice touch. I can't wait to get the other colours

China Glaze Holographic - Sci Fly By

Normally I wouldn't be able to afford a nail polish like this, but I got a voucher for amazon and I just HAD to have a holographic nail polish.
In a future review I will show a more affordable one from GOSH, but for now we have this one. It took me a while to choose which colour to buy, I wanted it to be perfect, and it is, its a gorgeous pale blue. I took so many photos, on my new camera and my iPhone. I found the iPhone actually picked up the effect better.

First pictures what it looks like in the shade, just a normal metallic blue:

On its own I think its a really nice colour

Then in bright sunlight. I love it so much I just wanted to keep taking photos. These are off my iPhone

It applies thinly, I used 2 coats and one layer of base coat, it really shows up all the ridges in my nails from when I had the acrylics, so in future I will use 2 layers of base! I went out when I had put it on, and in the rare moments of sunlight I couldn't stop looking at my nails.
As my very first polish from china glaze I am very pleased! If I have the chance again I will definitely be getting more holo colours.

Do you own or plan to own any holos?

Boots Natural Collection Topaz, Champagne and Sugar Mouse

Looking around boots today and I was drawn to the natural collection stand. A lot of the nail polishes had a shimmer to them, and they were 3 for £5! I think the bottles they come in are very pretty, but thats just me.

They applied the same, bottle says to apply to coats, I went for 3 just to even it all out, it was a bit streaky in places. It took me ages to decide on the 3 colours there was so many!

First Topaz a very pale, almost metallic blue, but not quite.

The pictures don't seem to pick up the blue on my nails, it looks more silver in these pictures but the colour that you see in the bottle is the colour it actually appears on the nails.

Second was Champagne, a dusky pink, looks darker in the bottle than it comes out on my nails.

The picture is quite accurate as to how it looks in the bottle and then on my nails. I wasn't as impressed with this colour than the other, I wanted it to be darker.

Third colour is Sugar Mouse, a pearly white with a pink shimmer.

Again, the colour on the nails doesn't match the colour in the bottle, it looks much more white, but once it's on its very pink. It's a really nice colour, but not what I was after.

It seems to be hit and miss with these ones, at the price I would probably go back for more, if I was after a particular colour, very nice if you like the paler shades.
