Barry M Confetti Swatch Part 1: Dolly Mixture and Marshmallow

I bought these a while ago now, I think superdrug put them out earlier than they were supposed to be, it was during 3 for 2 so I thought I should buy them.

They weren't the original ones I wanted, they should be available on Tuesday.

Marshmallow consists of pink strands, it isn't my favourite. Dolly Mixture is great though, its a mix of orange, yellow, blue and pink.

The bottles are amazing, I love the lids. I have put one coat of confetti over the Limited Edition summer paints. You can layer it over colours or you can just use it on its own, but it would take quite a few coats, and removal would be a bit hard! Marshmallow doesn't really work with green it seems to have changed colour, but I really love Dolly Mixture over this pink, in fact I cant wait to try it over other colours, even if removing it is a pain.

Hopefully this is close enough to get a good look, I will have to try Marshmallow over a white or pink to see if it will show up better.

Confetti effect is available at Boots, Superdrug and Barry M online for £3.99 each. Next week I will be buying the green and blue

Have you tried any yet?

17 Seventeen Holographic Nail Polish

Only the other day when I was not so impressed with a China Glaze holo I was saying that there needs to be more affordable holos out there, lo and behold I go to Boots and the Seventeen range had one!

At only £3.99 its the perfect price, had to pick it up right away.

This is actually my favourite holo so far. I prefer it to china glaze and to the GOSH holographic heroes, which is only made to last 24 hours, this lasts a few days before chipping. I used 2 coats to cover the nail, and no topcoat, using a top coat can ruin the effect. Now we finally have sun, its time to bring out the holo nail polish. I love it. The gorgeous rainbow effect it has, I can't stop looking at my nails when I have it on.

I hope I have captured it well. The photo below is what it looks like it normal light, just a nice glittery/metallic silver:

I really really hope 17 bring out some more colours in the holo range, I will definitely buy them all.

You can purchase it in store and online.

Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish - Tangy Tangerine Swatch and Review

Just digging through my collection of swatches that I have written up, got my nails painted a nice colour so the new ones I got today will have to wait.

I got this a few weeks ago, it was even before London there was 3 for 2 on Rimmel in superdrug. I needed a 3rd and because I don't own a pastel orange I thought I would try it.

I like this colour, its not too in your face orange. I used 2 coats to cover the nail, I didn't use a top coat either so that shine is from the polish.
I would like to see this with a matte finish, really need to get a matte top coat but the only one I can find is Bourjois and thats a little bit expensive!

Rimmel can be purchased in Boots and Superdrug, the nail polish is £2.99 each.

This feels like a really short blog, what am I missing out?

Essie 'Penny Talk' Swatch and Review

My very first essie polish! Wanted one for ages but they are just a bit too expensive for me. I had been seeing a few good reviews for the April Glossy Box, which is where I got it from, my review of which can be found Here

Back to the polish!
This one is called 'Penny Talk' its light metallic bronze. I have been after a bronze for a while so I was happy with this.

As you can see, it is quite pale for a bronze, slightly pink tones to it. Is it weird that I love the shape of the brush? The curve is much better than the usual brush shapes. I used 1 coat on my little finger, it is  completely opaque but I have all those ridges where my acrylics were so I used a second coat on the rest of the nails. Easy to apply and dried quite quickly.

Essie retails at £7.99 per bottle, ouch! I just cant justify spending that much on one bottle, which is a shame because they have some amazing colours available.

The official website is here: essie and you can also purchase them in Boots stores.

what do you think of this colour?

Barry M Textured Nail Paint: Atlantic Road and Station Road Swatch and Review

Another post while I am in the mood!

Another collection Barry M released this Spring was the textured nail paint range, I was skeptical at first because I was worried the texture would go through me, so I didn't want to go mad and buy them all. I got Station Road because all the reviews I read mentioned that it had a shimmer to it, and I love shimmer in a polish, and I got Atlantic Road because it was most appealing from the other colours. They are very similar to the pastel colours.

I was pleasantly surprised by the texture, it's slightly less rough than a breezeblock and I just find myself stroking my nails when it on.

Just a quick picture to show the golden shimmer.

I used to coats to cover the nail, first coat is quite thin but sorted with 2, they do take a while to dry I found, longer than normal nail polish. I found removal was ok, not as hard as glitter to get rid of!

The textured nail paints also come in a pastel green and pink and retail at £3.99 from BarryM.com, Boots and Superdrug.

Have you tried any textured nail polishes? what do you think?

Barry M Gelly Collection Lychee and Greenberry Swatch and Review

Been neglecting my blog a bit, I have plenty of swatches to upload but just not feeling it at the moment. Plus I have my mums old sewing machine so I am playing around with that at the moment. I have my first GlossyBox on the way and I am referring my cousin to sky so we both get £75 voucher which can be spent in boots, saving myself for that major shopping trip!

Another 2 gellys today, these were part of the Spring Collection along with another 2, DragonFruit and Papaya.

Greenberry is my 2nd favourite after Dragonfruit, I love bright colours.

They felt quite thick to apply, but I still needed to coats for full opacity, they were slightly patchy at one. Lychee is the neutral shade, reminds me of milky coffee, and greenberry is a really bright odd shade of green, I love it. Wish I had done my nails the other way round, I prefer greenberry to Lychee.

As always doesn't need a top coat, I had it on for almost a week, and it didn't loose much shine and didn't chip much either.

You can buy these from BarryM.com, Superdrug and Boots for £3.99

Did you get any of the spring range? which was your favourite?

Rimmel London Pear Drop Nail Polish Swatch and Review

Another post tonight! making up for the lack of them.

I saw another blog I follow (Imagination in Colour) review this nail polish and I just HAD to have it. I just love the colour.

How would I describe this colour?? It doesn't exactly bring to mind pear drops but I do love it, its so bright and its not plain, which I love. I used 2 coats to completely cover the nail. You can get these polishes from superdrug or boots for £2.99. Yet another perfect colour for summer! what do you think?

Also feeling quite proud of my nails in these pictures! I have never had my nails grow so long and be as strong as they are now. I got recommended to use Nail Envy but thats just too expensive, so I am using a rimmel repair and strengthener, they are doing a good job!

Barry M Berry Ice Cream Swatch and Review

Continuing my Barry M obsession, this is one of my all time favourite nail polishes. Ever. I just love the colour and how it looks on me.

The bottom picture is how I would say it appears, the others are in direct sunlight. This is quite a thick polish, I usually use 2 coats though just to even out any streaks. Its a gorgeous pale purple pastel, part of Barry M ice cream range, I have the other 3 to write up in the coming weeks!

All the pastel and ice cream range are £2.99 available from Barry M, Boots and Superdrug.

What colours do you want to wear this summer?

Barry M Gelly: Dragon Fruit Swatch and Review

Still working my way through Barry M! Today I went for Dragon Fruit, part of the spring range of Gelly paint, they released 3 others and I have another 2 of them: Lychee and Greenberry, both coming up in the near future!

Dragon fruit is a gorgeous pink, slightly brighter than a baby pink, and it does have the most subtle of shimmers,  personally I can barely see it myself, and I definitely couldn't pick it up on the camera, even when I went outside into the sun!

When I first saw the colour I wasn't wowed. I love pink, I have lots of pink, how many pinks can one person have, and I bought it because I read about the shimmer, which is almost non existent, but putting it on today I really love it. Its such a nice colour, and is perfect for these hopefully sunny days we have ahead.

I found the formula quite thin, and I just about got away with 2 coats, no top coat used as its supposed to have a hi-shine without a top coat.

Barry M Gelly paint retails at £3.99 and is available from Superdrug, Boots and Barry M . Boots at the moment is 3 for 2.

Do you have any of the Gelly range?

Sinful Colours: Winterberry, Gorgeous and Innocent Swatch and Review

Sinful colours launched in Boots not that long ago. The Boots in Manchester has a stand full of them, they are £1.99 each which is amazing! and at the moment its 3 for 2. I did delay buying them because I thought that perhaps they would be too thin, but I have been pleasantly surprised by them, and while I have enough points on my advantage card to get 3 more, I think I might!

First up is 'Winterberry' I would describe the colour as mauve, and it has a subtle shimmer. I didn't need to worry about the consistency because it was opaque in 2 coats, thats my kind of polish. Didn't take long to dry, but I can't comment on its durability because I was trying all 3 on in the same day.

I am still playing around with my camera, the second picture was an attempt at a macro shot. The skin around my nails is a bit awful at the moment too, had to blur it out haha.

Second colour, which is just amazing is called 'Gorgeous' nicely named. I would perhaps describe it as a metallic aquamarine. I have managed to capture how in one light it looks a vibrant blue, then in another its almost teal. Slightly two tone. This was also only 2 coats!

Had to take quite a few photos because I really love it. As you can see in the photos above, in direct sunlight its a bright blue, then without the direct light, theres a definite green tone to it. Below playing around with macro shots again, you can see the different colour tones with it.

And finally is 'Innocent' A lime green with slightly yellow tones. I really love the colour in the bottle.

I just think its so bright! This was only 2 colours, I still can't comment on the durability but I have had it on for a few hours and its been ok so far.

You can purchase Sinful Colours from http://www.boots.com, they are also on twitter @sinfulcoloursuk

Have you tried any of  the sinful colours yet? Which ones would you recommend I buy next?

Barry M Gelly Collection - Blueberry Swatch and Review

First post of MANY of my Barry M collection. Over the next 2 weeks I will be going through the Gelly and pastels, nice spring/summer colours, we can at least pretend its spring.

Today I have gone for Blueberry. I haven't seen this one in the shops much, my Superdrug finally had 1 in stock and my mum bought it for me. I like the gelly paints but personally I am not bothered about having a high shine without a top coat. I really love the colours, but as I am a bit skint, I don't like paying the extra £1!

Oh my god I love this colour. It is SO bright. It really stands out on my nails. It applied smoothly, quite thick, but I like that, and as you can see it has a hi-shine without a top coat. It was almost opaque at one coat, but I used 2 just even out a few streaks. You can buy for £3.99 from Barry M superdrug and boots.

Barry M are my all time favourite, before I knew it I had over 60 polishes. Great affordable quality.

Revlon - 'Girly' Nail Polish Swatch and Review

Yesterday Boots were having an instore promotion 'give it a go' about trying something new, so I thought I would pop down, plus it was 3 for 2 on cosmetics! I ended up giving the red lipstick a go and buying it! I never wear lipstick let alone red.

The other favourite thing I bought yesterday was this gorgeous nail polish. Ever since seeing 'Its a trap-eze' by China Glaze I have been in love with glitter nail polishes that have a coloured base and I just don't have enough of them.

The base is a very pale pink with medium and small hexagon glitter in fuscia, purple and a pale pink. I had to dab it on and push the glitter around to cover my nails. I used 2 coats here, probably would get away with using a third.

A comparison of the colours in sunlight and in shade. I really love this, even though its not opaque, its different to a normal glitter. Did take a while to dry because I put it on quite thick. I love the shape of the bottle as well.

My camera can't do macro shots,  so this is as close to it as I could get to try show you all the glitter. They retail at £6.49, so slightly higher than my limit of £5 but I just had to get it. You can purchase at boots or superdrug instore and online.

Boots Natural Collection Topaz, Champagne and Sugar Mouse

Looking around boots today and I was drawn to the natural collection stand. A lot of the nail polishes had a shimmer to them, and they were 3 for £5! I think the bottles they come in are very pretty, but thats just me.

They applied the same, bottle says to apply to coats, I went for 3 just to even it all out, it was a bit streaky in places. It took me ages to decide on the 3 colours there was so many!

First Topaz a very pale, almost metallic blue, but not quite.

The pictures don't seem to pick up the blue on my nails, it looks more silver in these pictures but the colour that you see in the bottle is the colour it actually appears on the nails.

Second was Champagne, a dusky pink, looks darker in the bottle than it comes out on my nails.

The picture is quite accurate as to how it looks in the bottle and then on my nails. I wasn't as impressed with this colour than the other, I wanted it to be darker.

Third colour is Sugar Mouse, a pearly white with a pink shimmer.

Again, the colour on the nails doesn't match the colour in the bottle, it looks much more white, but once it's on its very pink. It's a really nice colour, but not what I was after.

It seems to be hit and miss with these ones, at the price I would probably go back for more, if I was after a particular colour, very nice if you like the paler shades.
